Hi! I’m Kayla Gardner, owner of Cakes by Kay.

I have always loved baking. When my Mom enrolled me in a week-long baking summer camp as a kid, something creative was ignited in me. From then on, spending time in the kitchen was something I did when I wanted to unwind and create. And of course, pig out on something delicious…BIG foodie over here.

Cakes by Kay’s origin was the 2020 pandemic. When I had to temporarily work from home, I found myself searching for an outlet to distract myself from the stress and uncertainty we were all facing. Thanks to word of mouth, what began as making cakes for family and friends turned into baking for strangers, and shortly after that I transformed this hobby into something just a tad more official.

Creating a unique piece of edible art for you and the special people in your life brings me immense joy. There is so much joy in gathering together with our loved ones to celebrate life’s most important moments. Indulging in something memorable and delicious while you’re at it adds to the magic.

When I’m not baking, I’m teaching highschool drama, directing musicals, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
