Hi! I’m Kayla Gardner, owner of Cakes by Kay.
I have always loved to bake. I think it all started when my Mom enrolled me in a week-long baking summer camp as a child. From then on, whipping up something scrumptious in the kitchen was an activity I did when I wanted to unwind and be creative. And of course, eat a sweet treat!
Cakes by Kay was a result of the 2020 pandemic. When I had to start working from home temporarily, I found myself desperate to stretch my legs and my brain with something physical and creative in hopes of distracting myself from the stress and uncertainty we were all facing. Thanks to word of mouth, what began as making cakes for family and friends turned into baking for strangers, and pretty soon I figured it was time to make this hobby into something just a tad more official.
Creating something unique for you and the special people in your life brings me immense joy. Over the past few years we have all come to recognize the value and joy in gathering together in person – why not indulge in something memorable and delicious while you’re at it?
When I’m not baking, I’m teaching highschool English, Theatre, and Home Economics, spending quality time with my family and friends, and dreaming about my next travel adventure. Thanks for stopping by!
